Manjyot is a climate policy professional with extensive experience in international climate policy, multi-stakeholder coalition building, and corporate sector engagement. Growing up in the City of Lakes, Bhopal that endured the gas tragedy in the 80’s, Manjyot became interested in solving global environmental and climate problems with a deep recognition of the impacts to local communities and ecosystems.
In her current role, Manjyot is responsible for driving and delivering the Hub’s methane mitigation strategy and projects across high impact sectors and geographies in Asia that bring direct socio-economic benefits to countries and communities. Formely, Manjyot worked at various international organizations and think-tanks including the World Wildlife Fund-US, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES). At the WWF, she launched and managed one of the largest multi-stakeholder climate coalitions, called the “Alliances for Climate Action,” across Asia and Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Americas with over 6000 subnational and local governments, private sector, academia, and civil society organizations committed to 1.5c aligned climate targets that support national governments in the delivery of the Paris Agreement. At C2ES, Manjyot lead a project on corporate carbon pricing that contributed to the burgeoning field of internal carbon pricing tools used by global companies to meet their climate goals and mitigate climate-related risks. Currently, Manjyot is a member of the Expert Peer Review Group of the UN Race to Zero Campaign and has contributed to development of the Campaign’s evaluation framework to enhance the robustness and credibility of net zero subnational and non-state actor commitments. She also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Sustainability at the University of Maryland.
Manjyot received her BA in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai; a MS in Sustainability from the School of Sustainability, Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from American University, Washington, DC.
