Alexandre Sánchez is a lawyer and biologist that has served 10 years as top advisor in environmental issues to the Chilean Senate. He has been directly and indirectly involved in the creation of more than 20 laws in Chile, relating to energy, water, mining and environment in general. He drafted Chile’s first water efficiency bill, and negotiated the inclusion crucial accountability aspects in Chile’s climate change law.
Before working at GMH, he served as Executive Director of the Climate Action Center at PUCV University, and previously of the Legado Chile Foundation, both places where he led cutting-edge climate tech projects. He currently holds a position in the board at the latinamerican-focused ENGO Ecosur and frequently participates in speaking engagements and lectures about climate change.
At GMH, Alex works as grant manager, overseeing the whole portfolio of grants and provides management support in cross-cutting grantmaking, while also building the Hub’s impact and learning framework. An avid chess player and fan of meditation practices, he enjoys conversations about sensemaking during the current civilization crisis, as well as citizen advocacy, education, and knowledge management, topics which he often writes about.
